Privacy policy

Adventure Bike Renting respects your privacy and processes your personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This policy explains what data we collect and why.

Last updated: October 2026

Data controller

Johan Linskens, trading as Adventure Bike Renting, Hallestraat 4, 8000 Bruges, Belgium. Company and VAT number BE 0518.599.018. Email: info@bikerentalkoffieboontje.be. Phone: +32 50 33 80 27.

What data we collect

When you contact us via the contact form, by email or by phone, or send a reservation request, we process the data you provide: your name, email address, phone number, the content of your message and, for a reservation, the bike, number, date and duration you choose. We do not collect data through tracking or advertising cookies.

In addition, only with your consent, we use privacy-friendly analytics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights) to measure visitor numbers and site performance. This measurement uses no cookies and does not identify you personally. See our cookie policy for details.

If you tap "How far am I?", your browser asks your permission to share your location. The distance to our shop is then calculated on your own device; your location is not sent to us or to anyone else, and it is not stored.

Why and on what basis

We use this data solely to answer your question and to help you with a reservation, rental or purchase. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to your request and, where applicable, performing an agreement at your request.

Retention period

We keep your data no longer than needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards, unless we are legally required to retain it longer.

Reservation requests made on this website are deleted automatically from the website's database 12 months after the requested date.

To stop the forms being misused, our server keeps a coded version of your IP address (never the address itself) with each request or message. The code is deleted automatically, usually within a day, and is only used to count how many requests come from the same address.

Who we share data with

We never sell your data. We rely on carefully selected service providers, such as our hosting partner, who process data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area, this is done with appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

In practice these are Vercel (hosting of the website), Neon (database for reservation requests) and Resend (sending emails). The Google reviews on the site are fetched by our own server; no data about you is passed on for this.

Our route maps show map images from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation). To load them, your browser connects directly to OpenStreetMap's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details, as with any website you visit; no cookies are placed. The weather forecast on our site is fetched by our own server, so no data about you is shared for it.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and the right to object. To exercise these rights, email info@bikerentalkoffieboontje.be.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels — www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
